LCHS Student Earns Gold at Art Competition

Stephanie Richerson, a Lamar Consolidated High senior, is a uniquely talented - and now state recognized - artist. This year, at the State Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) Richerson’s aboriginal artwork earned her a coveted gold medal.

Over 24,000 students competed in 25 regions across the state with only 1,195 pieces making it to the state competition. The competition included a variety of artwork including oil and water paintings, sculptures, photographs and mixed media pieces.

Richerson’s winning artwork was created using paints on roofing material accented with recycled wires from old telephones. She is the first Lamar Consolidated Independent School District Student to win a VASE Gold Medal!
