A Healthy Monday campaign is being launched by ShapeUp Sugar Land starting this April.
The restaurants participating in the campaign will offer “good, better and best” choices on all of their menus each Monday throughout the year.
Mondays have been proclaimed Healthy Mondays by Sugar Land Mayor James Thompson through a formal proclamation. Each participating restaurant has a display of the official proclamation.

Two organizations have joined together in an effort to show their support in preventing child abuse. This month is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Exchange Club of Sugar Land along with Friends of Child Advocates of Fort Bend are working together to inform their communities about ways they can help prevent child abuse.
Child Advocates of Fort Bend held their annual Light of Hope Ceremony on March 26th to jump start their Child Abuse Prevention month events. Whole Foods Market, Exchange Club of Sugar Land and Friends of Child Advocates of Fort Bend along with Cameron and Nicole Hill sponsored the event.

Earth Day 2011 is almost here and the city of Sugar Land will celebrate with a series of fun filled events on April 16, from 2 to 6 pm at Mercer Stadium.
Sugar Land residents are invited to enjoy free household electronics recycling, paper shredding and collection of clothing and household goods for reuse. Residents can bring working and non-working household electronics free of charge for recycling and reuse. CDs, DVDs and floppy discs will also be accepted for shredding
The city of Sugar Land will also celebrate Earth Day with events at Town Square Plaza from 5 to 8 pm. Plaza events will include an automated solid waste collection demonstration, a series of environmental activity booths featuring face painting, Eco-Plinko and recycling games for children and there will be a performance by musicians Leah White and the Magic Mirrors.

The first Sugar Land Junior Superstar Competition will be held this spring at Sugar Land Town Square thanks to the popularity of the original Sugar Land Superstar competition.
The competition is an American Idol-like competition that is held each summer and was created to give communities' younger vocal talents a venue for performing.
Fifteen finalists were chosen in the first round of auditions, held on March 30, to perform at the Junior Superstar Competition on April 30 from 7 to 9 pm live at the Plaza. Round one participants performed pre-prepare 90 second songs without musical accompaniment. All participants are between 9 and 13 years of age and a resident of Fort Bend County.
