Two organizations have joined together in an effort to show their support in preventing child abuse. This month is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Exchange Club of Sugar Land along with Friends of Child Advocates of Fort Bend are working together to inform their communities about ways they can help prevent child abuse.
Child Advocates of Fort Bend held their annual Light of Hope Ceremony on March 26th to jump start their Child Abuse Prevention month events. Whole Foods Market, Exchange Club of Sugar Land and Friends of Child Advocates of Fort Bend along with Cameron and Nicole Hill sponsored the event.
The event had several inspirational songs performed along with remarks by 328 Judicial District Judge, Ronald Pope and even a child abuse survivor who read an inspiring poem about her battle with abuse.
Child Advocates of Fort Bend also unveiled their Blue Ribbon Quilt that was created by volunteers, supporters, members of the community, Girl Scouts and even children supported by the organization.
There are a variety of ways the community can participate in Child Abuse Prevention Month, like wearing a blue ribbon, passing out blue ribbons, posting child abuse prevention material and inviting Child Advocates of Fort Bend to come and speak to groups.
Child Advocates of Fort Bend has been open since 1991. They rely on volunteers and community support for funding.
